Well the day started out a little slow but I got about an hour and a half nap thanks to mom and dad. That was SO nice. I can't remember the last time I actually had a nap. Then we had a visit from a fire truck, nothing too exciting they were just checking the fire hydrants but ours ended up leaking afterwards so they had to come out twice. Then that night we decided to build us a little campfire and roast hotdogs and smores. It was so fun. We put the kids to bed and Michael and I enjoyed a nice evening around the campfire but instead of crawling into a freezing sleeping bag in a freezing tent we just came in the house and watched a movie. I love backyard camping.
Here we are at the Easter car show in Hurricane. Michael took the Thing out there and we were able to go out for a few minutes to check out the cars. Everyone thought his car was just 'getting started' but little did they know that car is a finished project for now until I inherit it.
Our fireplace was so sad when we moved in. It took me a year to paint the brass insert black and I had been hoping and wishing and dreaming of getting a mantel and surround but do you know how expensive those things are? It just wasn't in our budget, even to make one. I love looking on craigslist just to see if there are any good deals out there. Yesterday I happened to see pictures of a garage sell and asked the guy if he was selling the mantel in the picture, he said yes but it's a headboard - $10. I wanted to go get it that night (it was 10:30) but Michael said no way. So the next day we went and looked at it and it was definitely a mantel but they had been using it as a headboard. I instantly saw the beauty but Michael wasn't convinced so we made a deal, if I did his laundry he would extend the legs for me. This morning he went and picked up the wood and trim ($10). A $20 FIREPLACE MAKEOVER!! This afternoon I primered it and painted it and woolah - I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! THANK YOU HONEY YOU MADE MY DAY - now if i could only get rid of that tv ;) This first picture is the picture I spotted on Craigslist.
Ellie's birthday was on General Conference Sunday so we opened a couple of gifts before conference started, had a yummy breakfast of crumb cake and eggs and had a great day watching the Prophet and Apostles speak. Afterwards we invited friends and family over for dessert. For her bday we had company cake, angel food cake and grandma's cheese pie - so delicious, of course all my favorites until they can decide what they want ;) Everyone came to celebrate and we had a great time.
On March 11th Carter turned three. What a big boy. He's so funny the things he says, "Oh boy", "Oh man", "Amazing". You wonder if he learns ALL of this from his parents. We went on a walk the other day and we get to the stop sign and he says, STOP, and spells S-T-O-P. I'm amazed at how these kids soak everything up. On Carter's bday we went "swimming" in mom and dad's jacuzzi and had cake and opened presents. He loved it. He now gets so excited for a bday party because he knows there will be cake.
