MOM & DAD ESCAPE FOR THE WEEKEND
Well we finally did it, we left our babies for a night, actually two nights with my parents and it was wonderful! If I would have known I wasn't going to terribly miss them or feel guilty for leaving them I would have done it a long time ago. Michael's bday was Friday the 9th so we rented a bright orange 1977 VW Camper bus and drove to Sedona, AZ on Friday. We got there late and all the campsites were completely full so we found a house for rent and parked in the vacant lot next to it which was only about 1/2 a block off the main highway through town. I was a little nervous about getting caught but that was the fun part. The next morning we drove around Sedona a little bit and headed to Jerome which is a tiny mining town built on the side of a steep mountain back in the late 1800's. We even hit a yard sale there. After Jerome we drove to Camp Verde where there are some cliff dweller ruins and then headed to Flagstaff to spend the night at the KOA. The next morning we were up and out of there and at the last minute took a detour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, I'm glad we did because it was incredible to see instead of just in pictures. Carter and Ellie were happy to see us when we got home and we were just as excited to see them.

TRIP TO SALT LAKE
Last weekend we took a quick trip to Salt Lake. Saturday morning we went to see James's soccer game. He was so good and even made a goal although it didn't count because someone was offsides. It was really fun to see him play so well. Afterwards we went to Hogle Zoo. I thought Carter would have so much fun seeing all the animals but he was so cranky because he didn't get a nap, and nobody had gotten much sleep the night before, we hadn't been there long when Carter climbed up a wooden fence and dove over the side face first into a pile of mud, it was so funny. That night Sherrie made us a delicious steak dinner and then we crashed. On Sunday we got to see James in his primary program, I've never seen so many kids in one ward. It was great to see everyone over the weekend and meet sweet baby Ella.
